I don’t mind a parasite; I object to a cut rate one. — Rick Blaine
Our good friend Gort has the story of a cut-rate parasite:
A well dressed man
19 and countingSCRANTON – Former Luzerne County Deputy Clerk William Brace has agreed to plead guilty to accepting a suit valued at $1,500 in exchange for helping a contractor obtain a contract with the county sometime between June 2007 and May 2008….He served as chief clerk for Wilkes-Barre City until 2001, when he retired. He then took a position as chief deputy for Clerk of Courts Bob Reilly. He stayed in that position until December 2005, when he took the position as deputy clerk for the county commissioners. He retired in November 2008 to take a position as registrar of vital statistics for the state.
Like the rest of them his sentence will depend on his level of cooperation. I think Bill Brace has been in a government job since before I was born so he should be able to provide the feds with a wealth of information.
And the appropriate song:

By request. Thanks Danny.I was listening to local talk radio yesterday discussing Bill Brace’s $1500 suit and it sounded like queer eye for the corrupt guy.
He committed a felony for a $1,500 suit; how stupid is that? Gort said that Mr Brace has been in a government job for decades; I assume that he had, had being the operative tense, a government pension of some sort. I assume that’s gone now, too, over a $1,500 suit.
Looks like he didn’t get stuck in a government job just because all of the rocket scientist slots had already been filled.

Sincw ZZ Top was brought up, I have a funny story from about 15 years ago. I had to Youngstown, OH to meet up with some US Attorneys on a tax case and I was a construction/engineer consultant. It was February and a bad day for flying. Got in 4 hours late. Of course since the flight was “delayed” in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, my bags didn’t make it. Now I understand a short connection time, but we left 2 hours late from Baltimore, and two hours late from PIT. So how it was missed????? But once in Youngstown in time for some great lake effect storms off Eire, I had called for a cab. The cab showed up and I opened the door to a guy that looked like ZZ Top’s Brother. He said he was called to the airport to pick up a package. Nobody else was around so I said I was the package. So, we had a nice slippery ride to the hotel. The hotel was leaky and drafty and was just above the room temperature of a refrigerator. So, I stuffed the windows with newspapers and warmed up a little.
I like this video better:
But I forgot how lame those beards were. They were thin and short compared to mine 10 years ago when kids were hanging out of buses and yelling “ZZ Top rules!”
But, Mr Pico, even you have to admit a sweet suit and a bunch of latch-on 19-25 year old chicks is worth losing a pension over, no?
Elaine and I saw ZZ Top at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater eleven or twelve years ago.

We may need a picture of that one!
I’m thinking that, without the pension, and without a job, Mr Brace might find it difficult to get the 19-to-25 year olds to latch on for long. And it was only one suit; he won’t be able to get it properly cleaned without money. And even with his $1,500 suit, gold watch, diamon ring (he ain’t missing not a single thing!), I’m not 100% certain that they’ll come running to that sharp dressed man!
Heh, I don’t know if there are any pics available. I’m averse to cameras. But when I sat down, my beard hit my belt and my hair was half-way down my back. I had to twist my beard up, fold it three times, and hold it in place with a hair band while at work. I also had a hair band in my hair and had it tucked up under my hat. Safety rules at work and such.
But, yeah, that dude needs more than a $1500 suit and a watch. He needs a $2mil car and a wad of cash.
I have known Mr. Brace since I was in High School and this news surprises me but it doesn’t shock me. The way the Feds are working is that they have a pile of charges they can hit you with but get a plea on just one to avoid the time and expenses of a trial.
To answer your question, he recieves a pension from the City of Wilkes-Barre and Luzerne County and was working on a third one from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Thank you John for a better version of the song.
Two pensions, and working on a third. From what I understand, a government official convicted of a felony in connection to his official duties loses all of his pension that he did not contribute himself. I wonder just how much that $1,500 suit will actually cost Mr Brace.
Might as well include this for ZZ Top fans:
“From what I understand, a government official convicted of a felony in connection to his official duties loses all of his pension.”
You would think so but that is not always the case. You have to remember that the crooks that are going down also wrote the pension rules. Even the Judges may keep their pensions.
And another:
Well, may as well add some blu innuendo since we’re playing some sweet ZZ Top music.
But that still won’t help the pension-less $1500 suit guy pick up 19-25 year-old chicks with the way he looks and the flatness of his wallet.
