It seems that Major Nidal Hasan may be paralyzed from the waist down as a result of the four gunshot wounds he took when civilian police shot him, stopping his mass murder rampage.
Lawyer: Accused Fort Hood gunman may be paralyzed
By Angela K. Brown, Associated Press Writer – Fri Nov 13, 10:57 am ETFORT HOOD, Texas – The Army psychiatrist accused in the fatal shootings at Fort Hood may be paralyzed from the waist down after being shot multiple times during the attack, his attorney told The Associated Press on Friday.
Civilian attorney John Galligan said Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan told him that he had no feeling in his legs and extreme pain in his hands. Hasan, who was shot four times by civilian police officers, said doctors told him the condition may never improve.
Galligan said he spoke with Hasan for about an hour in the intensive care unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio on Thursday, the same day Hasan was charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder.
Hat tip to DRJ. I am, of course, all broken up about this.
Major Hasan is in the intensive care unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio; a hospital spokesman could not say anything about the patient’s condition, because Major Hasan has requested that hospital officials not give out any information concerning his condition.
I do have to wonder, however: as Major Hasan was shouting, “Allahu Akbar!” and gunning down all of those innocent people, killing fourteen of them¹, didn’t he expect to martyr himself and go to his 72 white grapes? Shouldn’t we expect this brave Islamic Mujahid to mount not a defense, but make a proud statement of his actions, to proclaim boldly his accomplishments for Allah, against the infidels? Shouldn’t we expect him to not fear the death penalty, but to ask for it, nay, to demand it?²

¹ – Yes, I certainly do count the unborn child of the pregnant soldier killed as a fourteenth murder victim.
² – Not that we should give it to him. If he continues to suffer from paralysis and intense pain in his hands while serving a life sentence in prison, that’s his problem.

He’ll probably sue the army.
