From Sister Toldjah:
No, the WH war on Fox News is not over
The Chi-Trib’s Swamp blog reports on something many of us predicted at the time of the so-called “truce” made between Fox News and the Obama admin: That it was a TINO (Truce In Name Only). Peter Nicholas writes (via Memeorandum):
At least one Democratic political strategist has gotten a blunt warning from the White House to never appear on Fox News Channel, an outlet that presidential aides have depicted as not so much a news-gathering operation as a political opponent bent on damaging the Obama administration.
Now, this doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. The Obama Administration has complained that Fox News is biased — meaning, of course, that Fox News isn’t biased in favor of the Obama Administration, the way so many other media are — yet the White House is (apparently) trying to prevent Democrats from presenting whatever balance they can on Fox News.
Guess I just missed all of the stories where the Bush Administration tried to keep Republicans from appearing on CNN and MSNBC.

Dana here is what Anita Dunn said, as quoted by Nicholas from that same Swamp:
“White House Communications Director Anita Dunn said Thursday night that she had checked with colleagues who “deal with TV issues” and they had not told people to avoid Fox. On the contrary, they had urged people to appear on the network, Dunn wrote in an email.”
So whom does one believe, a consultant who will not name names, or Anita Dunn?
I guess it depends on which side of the political divide one has chosen!
Regarding the WH pushing back at the FoxNews crowd, I hope they do it often. We Independent Dems don’t want a repeat of the John Kerry approach!
Ah, yes, the questionable “I’m reporting for duty” approach while dishonoring his uniform. That would certainly need not be repeated Perry, so were in agreement on this point. But when a president has his Chicaco style henchmen dictate how a free press operates, it’s called a violation of the U.S. Constitution. I’m liking Honduras’s constitution where this offense is cause for expulsion.
The Left is becoming UNHINGED! Or maybe they reached that point already.
This is fascinating: the only reason I can think of that the WH gives one iota about a cable news network, is fear.
If they were irrelevant, if they were powerless, if they had no indirect or direct impact on the populous, the WH would not waste their limited time and energy on this war.
Ironically, there are some liberals who see the benefit of appearing on Fox, whether they’ve been warned or not.
When asked why he appears regularly on Fox, Bob Beckel responds: “I talk to more persuadable voters in a month than anybody on MSNBC and CNN talks to in a year.”
Susan Estrich says of Fox, “They are the most professional network of any I have dealt with,” he said. “If you are a Democrat who wants to deliver mindless talking points on Fox, it’s probably best to go to MSBNC and hope you get a chance to recite them. I think Fox encourages critical views of all sides, asks different kinds of questions and wants to have diversity of view.”
It would appear the WH pressing their own to avoid Fox might just be shooting themselves in the foot. Which is just really ironic.
“Beckel said he’ll persevere, even if it means taking blows from liberals who weren’t even born when he was fighting the good fight.
“There is a frustration when you are getting yelled at by people who weren’t even a gleam in their daddy’s eye when you were getting beat up by hard hats on Wall Street [while] protesting Vietnam,” he said.
^ What she said. ^
I can’t even approach that counter-argument. Cudos, Other Dana. You get an extra hour wearing your Jimmy Choos for that one. (PP joke)
other Dana“This is fascinating: the only reason I can think of that the WH gives one iota about a cable news network, is fear. “
I suppose you could call it fear.
The context of the WH pushback against FoxNews goes back to the tactics of Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, and such as the Swiftboaters. The Dems have suffered politically from these propagandists and liars, therefore, in my opinion, it is about time for pushing back against similar behavior by certain FoxNews broadcast liars. I’m glad to see it!
Surprise..surprise…Obetamale doesn’t like anyone who dares to disagree! He must be liked…adored even. It’s a part of his personality. A big part..maybe the only part…does he even have a personality? I for one am so sick of seeing his zombie face on tv. This man is a danger to our country. Oh how I’ll love seeing his arrogant butt bouncing down the Capitol steps after the next election! athat’s assuming of course that he doesn’t declare a state of national emergency in 2012 and suspend elections as so many of his Socio-Communist buddies have done in their countrys.
That’s funny, Perry: the Dems already have the print media in the bag (NYT, LAT, WaPo, etc), and the big three (CBS, NBC, ABC), and all the cables (MSNBC, CNN) but still that’s not enough! There can be no dissent! There can be no one voice left questioning, examining, even doubting the veracity of the other’s reports, or the administration itself.
You say the Dems have suffered from these “propagandists and liars”, which would mean that the public buys in to their analysis and reporting, so what you are essentially saying, is that the public is gullible, not savvy, and not astute enough to do their homework and hence decide on who is presenting the fair and balanced reporting.
It’s a shame you have such a low opinion of the populace, Perry. I, for one, don’t. I think people are smarter and more savvy than ever before about political issues. Thanks to Fox’s own push back against the company line being touted by the others, it’s good to see people thinking again.
The better looking Dana wrote:
Surely, surely! you don’t think our friends on the left believe that, do you? After all, they spent the last eight years telling us how valuable a free press was.
The cuter Dana wrote:
It should be pointed out here that, before Al Gore invented the internet, we were almost wholly dependent upon the professional media for news, and there was little or no check on them at all. Then the people took advantage of Mr Gore’s invention, and, amazingly enough, it seemed that mere unwashed bloggers were able to find errors, major errors, in the professional media.
THen Fox News Channel came along, and it seems that, once again amazingly, there was news out there that wasn’t favorable to the Democrats and liberals, that all of the facts weren’t on their side.
That the Democrats don’t like it was predictable.
I’m rethinking my assertion that the only reason this WH spends one iota of time being concerned about Fox is something far more problematic than just fear alone: they are indeed fearful – but it’s of course the reason they are fearul. People are that much smarter, more informed, and most importantly (as Pico points out, and God bless Al Internets Gore), people can, with a bit of work, discover the truth and facts for themselves in ways never before. We have to so much access to information that the more spin the WH puts out, the they risk being discovered as liars and crooks. Of course they have to keep Fox quiet, of course they can’t afford any dissent, and of course, those who support this administration fall in lock-step like meek sheep. Since they often get their information from the aforementioned MSNBC, CNN, NYT, LAT, etc. – why would one expect anything different from them?
Just so you know, the relationship with networks and Bush…
A GWB WHITEHOUSE AIDE, DAVID WESSEL WSJournal said: “Why would I lie? Because that’s what I’m suppposed to do. Lying to the press doesn’t prick anyone’s conscience.”
THE COMITEE TO PROTECT JOURNALIST, included the assessment in its ATTACKS ON THE PRESS annual report: “The actions taken by the Bush Administration seemed to embolden repressive government around the world to crack down on their own domestic media,. In Russia, a presidential advisor said, President Vladimir Putin planned to study U.S. limitation on reporting about terrorist in order to develop rules for the Russian media.”
While BUsh was in office…BBC, WORLD NEWS COMMENTATORS, “One of the Iraq war’s major casualties, is the credibility of the American media. Nobody takes it seriously.”
I could go on. I could find more.
Hey! I saw video of Big Foot! He was brown-furred all over his body except for the region around his eyes, where there was a rounded rectangle box of no fur which kind of looked like this:
._____________
(_____________)
You know, like a ski mask, only it wasn’t. It was just no fur in the general vicinity of his eyes. That video is conclusive proof Big Foot exists and deserves the right to vote, just like the American Indians. And, oh, shouldn’t he be taxed, too?
John, if you look in the mirror, and that is what you see, maybe you should just shave.
Blu, back when my daughter was in 6th grade, I went to the middle school and picked her up. Kids hung out of the school bus windows to shout “ZZ Top Rules!” Does that tell you anything about my hair back then?
I’ve noticed BigFoot always gets brought up, John when, you’re losing a discussion. An obvious attempt to discredit me. I’ve not been a BigFoot fan ever. Sorry.
As far as 911-Truth goes, I’m in the company of hundreds, if not thousands of professionals of all fields relevant that recognize the government BS. The numbers are only growing too. If you want to go that route with this conversation, let’s have it, but you can’t just claim to be engaging in an honest discussion, and dismiss the evidence/links that prove my points. Video documentation, scientific analysis, physicists’ statements, as well as many many others, like government intelligence officials, military intelligence officials, former CIA, former FBI, and more, but you seem to shy away from those facts, and instead bring up BigFoot. Oh UFOs are a subject I’ve never touched, and you tend to bring that up, to discredit me. Well, I’m not so sure honest debate is your forte’.
Blu, I have yet to be on the losing side of an argument with you. While I find it fun to spar with you since u can’t touch this, and I won’t often let your idiot inanity go unchecked since I’m 2 legit 2 quit, I won’t get into a real fight with you. See, I refuse to enter an intellectual battle with an unarmed woman.
You have already had moonbats on this site tell you to shut up about your 911 twoofer bovine byproduct because it puts a bad light on all moonbats (twice for you, Jeff). You have already been destroyed many times by a girl not quite half my age armed with the truth. You have even recently entered two threads that specifically refuse to attack Obama on two different topics and gone full-on paranoiac far-left loon, making all sorts of claims that proved you either cannot comprehend the written word or that you refused to even read the written word (pick your take).
Again, it was sorta fun sparring with you since you cannot hit back, but I will not enter a real intellectual fight with you since you are so woefully unarmed.
I do hit back, but it hits an impenetrable skull. I am not woefully unarmed. I have massive documentation but, the subject of Bigfoot and UFOs and your assumption that I’m there is YOUR “defense”. It’s called deflection. That is your tactic.
