James Madison, the fourth President of the United States, is known as “the father of the Constitution” and rightly so, as evidenced by the link. And he said something very important regarding the Second Amendment. That would be the right to keep and bear arms.
What did he say about the Second Amendment? I quoted him earlier on this issue. He said: “Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” That is a very clear statement. And any who wish to curtail legal rights to keep and bear arms must needs defeat Madison’s words.
Today, not only foreign countries are afraid of law-abiding citizens owning guns, but also a particular segment in the US. And that US segment is wholly the liberal side of things. It is the Democrat Party and liberals in general who don’t want Americans to be armed.
NYC, DC, Chicago are among the most anti-gun cities according to their laws. All owned by Democrats. All going into the social sewer. All in violation of the Constitution. And what about the crime rates and murder rates? Not so good.
Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the US, said “Every generation needs a new revolution” and “The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive.” Those Jeffersonian quotes go well with another Madison quote: “The truth is that all men having power ought to be mistrusted.” (From the above Madison quote.)
The right to keep and bear arms was clearly understood as an individual right by the framers of the Constitution. And the purpose was not for killing Bambi or Thumper, but in keeping the government in line from the threat of overthrowing it by force.
While I do not condone any militant uprising in the populace at this time (I am a firm believer in end-times prophecy, but that’s a different animal entirely), an armed society will indeed stop idiot criminals, as evidenced by my “Go, Granny, Go” article I just recently wrote.
One thing that is interesting, in case any of you missed it: Madison, the Father of the Constitution, equated today’s gun-control liberals with foreign countries who don’t trust their subjects. How does that shoe feel? Good fit?

The impetus for gun control is really the impetus to Do Something about violent crime. Trouble is, the advocates of gun control don’t know what to do about crime that doesn’t offend the part of their constituency which sees personal and parental responsibility as irrelevant. They don’t want to hold people responsible for their actions, because that might offend other people. Telling people that if their son is a thug, they didn’t rear him right, well we can’t do that, now can we?
Most dangerous cities in America: Detroit, St. Louis, Memphis, Oakland, Baltimore. DC is 14th. Least dangerous cities: Virginia Beach, Honolulu, San Jose, El Paso, Mobile. New York is in the middle somewhere. Chicago doesn’t rank because it doesn’t count rape stats correctly. My point – I don’t think there’s any real correlation between a city’s gun laws and its violent crime rate.
Citation for that last comment here. I threw out Henderson, Plano, Chandler, and Anaheim because they’re non-self-sufficient suburbs of larger cities (though you could make a plausible case for Anaheim).
Yeah, that anti-gun push by the Democrat Party — Hold on… Just leaving out two letters isn’t insulting enough. I insist we call them the Democ Party now. Okay? — that is just so anti-American. So let’s attack it! And let’s attack the anti-breathing bill they’re trying to ram down our throats. Breathing is American! (All those pretend breathers in other countries are just copycats.)
Stupid Democs. Why would they attack breathing? Unless they aren’t, and I just made that up to be mad at them.
Democrats refuse to jail criminals of all sorts because crime disrupts society. More crime, more disruption, and the disruption of society, social, economic, and governmental, is the necessary precondition for collectivist revolution. It’s textbook dogma, Marxist/Leninism 101.
I posted a good of self defense article in “Go, Granny, Go”. It proves the old bumper sticker from decades ago. “When guns are Outlawed, Only Outlaws will have guns.”
And Baltimore, Washington, Disease, oops DC, and Prince Georges County, MD combined knock off about 500 a year. Mostly the drug trade.
States that have CCW laws have lower murder rates than states which do not.
people are actually responding seriously to a guy who unironically identifies himself as a “firm believer in end-times prophecy”? people actually think the public good is well-served by such a person having access to firearms and/or heavy machinery? wow.
