   I am one who considers disrespecting the US flag by public burning in protests to be far enough over the top to deserve a very long prison sentence. Defacing the US flag like that? Let every purchaser, the designer, and every worker who produces that evil thing burn in Hades for eternity. I have no (zip, zero, nada, zilch) compassion for such folk.

   I do not wish to label all the members of the UAW who meet in that building with the same broad stroke…but why have those who have the decency to realize what a sham it is to replace the stars representing our nation’s states with the leering visage of Barack Obama on that obvious substitute for the US flag not demanded its removal?

   How ironic that such a disgusting symbol of the degradation of the values represented by the nation’s flag flies high above that UAW hall…while the Mohave Desert Cross, erected to honor those who sacrificed their lives for this country during WWI, has been ordered to be hidden away from view because the image of the cross is deemed offensive by a few depraved individuals.

   “Some claim somehow that the recovery package isn’t working by simply pointing to continued job losses. I consider this peculiar, especially from those who favored the policies that actually caused the recession to begin with,” EPI President Lawrence Mishel said in testimony to Congress on October 8, where he proposed a five-part strategy for creating and preserving jobs, and stressed that the causes of today’s high unemployment pre-date President Obama.

   “I consider President Obama to be in the situation of having inherited a burning apartment building. He proceeded to gather all the available fire trucks and douse the fires in half the floors. Yet his critics complain that the other floors are still on fire. Even worse, those critics are the ones who started the fire. And they want to withdraw the fire trucks.”

   “It should be pointed out that unemployment is certainly higher than was expected at the time of the (presidential) election. This is not due to any policy failure. Rather, this is due to an embarrassing failure of my profession, economists, to assess the future. In the November Blue Chip review of forecasts, the GDP decline over the last half of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 was expected to be at a 1.5% rate, a mild decline. Yet, we know now that the economy shrank three times as fast, at a 4.9% rate. Correspondingly, the forecasts in November (2008) expected an unemployment rate in the first quarter of 6.9%, but the actual rate was 8.1% with unemployment at 8.5% in March.”

   Referring to the six million jobs lost between the start of the recession and March 2009, Mishel said, “This is hardly the fault of the Obama administration.”

   Well, maybe someone, somewhere, was flying a flag with President Bush’s picture on it; if so, I’d like to see it.

   Had anybody suggested such a flag was a little grotesque, you’d have asked them why they hated freedom

   I put the First Amendment ahead of symbolism.

   There is no shortage of American flags, and if there were, some factory in China could put in a bit of overtime. Let those who loathe their nation burn their flag. Do it in public for all to see. Perhaps they may repent as they gain wisdom and experience. Perhaps they may not repent and become ‘Czars’ (or would ‘Commissar be a more precise term?).

   The only flag burning in which I was a participant involved a VC flag and it was in front of the “Baltimore Peace Action Center” in 1970. The “pacifists” turned surprisingly violent but the Baltimore City Police Department had their “pacifiers” ready for action.

   Activism can be fun at times.

   I’m waiting for the wall posters like Saddam, and a few others have to remind us who’s watching. But then again, BO is on TV 24/7, or it seems like it.

   The only flag burning in which I was a participant involved a VC flag and it was in front of the “Baltimore Peace Action Center” in 1970.

   I still think that’s hilarious! If I had a Hamas flag, I’d give it similar treatment.

   So you all think that’s a real tribute to Obama made and flown by Obama fans? You really think they’d choose that particular picture?

   No wonder the Party of No did so well in the past. They can be as lazy and stupid in their lies as they want, and people will still believe them.
