Limousine Liberals, Sailboat Socialists, and Trust Fund Terrorists
Conventional wisdom has the economic elite united under the GOP banner and the common man supporting the Democrats. While it is true that most entrepreneurs favor the Republicans and those who hunger for a free lunch vote the Donkey Ticket, Republicans have won a lot of elections and not every Democrat comes from a long line of ‘Wobblies’. We should never forget that Woodrow Wilson sent Socialist E. V. Debs to prison and Warren G. Harding turned him free.
There are a lot of Hollywood airheads who think that their riches have made them smarter than the masses. Some of these may play heroes and geniuses on the screen and forget that they are simply following a script. They may have a limited rationale for this elitist attitude since they are not the ones buying the tickets.
Yet does an ancestry that reeks of wealth or skills at earning a fast buck really make one a congenital Republican?
Terrorist (and friend/ghostwriter) of Obama Bill Ayres had a wealthy father who was a utility executive.
Banker Joseph Davies was Ambassador to Moscow and repeated Stalinist propaganda into his book “Mission to Moscow”. Perhaps we should not blame the banker for possibly adding his name to a work penned by some Soviet hack writers. On-line ‘curve fitters’ with a fetish for Stalinism might cite the work as ‘proof’ that the infamous ‘Purge Trials’ were a model of jurisprudence. The book was made into a movie that was such a package of lies that even the NYT film critic panned it. The screenwriter earned a postwar blacklist as the studio attempted to distance itself from the work. The film was a box office flop.
Secretary of State Stettinius was sometimes called an ‘industrialist’ by virtue of his executive position at GM. He was never a ‘car guy’ but a ‘human resources’ weenie. Harry Truman had his number and booted him out of Washington to the U. N.
The late Stewart Rawlings Mott was a bit of an academic playboy bit but he had a daddy who made millions as a GM money man and was (Republican) mayor of Flint. Mott the heir subsidized every leftist or kookie cause he could find with the foundation named for his father.

DNW:
As I tried to say earlier, I remember Mott, and in some ways he was an amusing character.
He and Jerry Brown had a certain something in common. What it was apart from goofiness coupled to liberalism, I am not sure I can say on the spur of the moment.

Nope.
To quote a commentator elsewhere:
It’s perfectly possible for the wealthy to see other people as human.
