That ACORN Sting

Some may have thought it strange that the pseudo-pimp that demonstrated the criminal tolerance of ACORN claimed that he was raising money for his Congressional race. Perhaps his combination of vocation and ambitions gave him a double-barreled appeal to the ‘community organizers’ who seem to have a disdain for a variety of laws. ACORN operatives were twice fooled by this sting before the symbolic light went on and they put up their guard. Perhaps the next effort will be one to get financial aid for acquiring a potential crack house or meth lab.

While some members of Congress have been exposed as johns, only one known pimp has been known to make it to the House of Representatives. He was the eponymous Big Tim Sullivan of New York. Perhaps his zeal for sampling the services of his ‘working girls’ was an honest form of quality control that would assure his clientele of superior service. He was poxed and died of the unpleasant concomitants of what was called Morbus Gallicus in the poem that gave the disease its formal name.

The Sullivan Law is still around, to the delight of the truly criminal element. Never forget that it was the creation of a syphilitic whoremonger from Tammany Hall.

His chosen heir to the rackets was a police lieutenant in the NYPD who had a witness whacked. Lt. Becker was the highest ranking cop to make it to the hot seat at Sing Sing.

  1. You arrogant, ignorant ass! ACORN reports the ones that are not on the up and up within their organization.

The amount of election fraud (different than voter fraud) from the GOP is so vast, the reports from the Left of those less than honest, makes ACORN problems look like, well, an acorn, in contrast to the GOP oak tree.

ACORN is made to look like the bad guy, by the MSM, because the MSM/GOP/corporate power, are all one and the same machine, that has zero regard for democracy.

I used to think that civility was due to all in normal exchanges, but your dishonesty, and elitist attitude, with zero regard for reality, unwillingness to observe, and acknowledge documented facts, leaves me no choice but to call you out for what you are, a dirty dealing dog, not worthy of civility. I’ve insufficient words to express my disgust.

  2. ACORN came to Delaware to help out in a special election yesterday. Some ‘volunteers’ did not even know the name of the candidate they were supporting and he was probably unaware of them. Their pay will likely never show up on any expense report.

  3. the criminal tolerance of ACORN is what you said. I’m saying that you have ignored that fact that when ACORN themselves, the officials that run it, turn people in, it shows how foul in that it is false, is.

Yeah, I’m sure that there are idiots in abundance on the GOP side.

  4. blubonnet, Acorn threw some individuals under the bus who were caught red-handed (sorry about the pun). Do you think Acorn is under criminal investigation in 14 states because they have a shining record of honor? I will suppose that you know that it is illegal to pay canvassers BY THE NUMBER OF VOTER REGISTRATION SIGNUPS…in which case, given proof that this indeed happened in many, many cases, how can you seriously defend them?

Maybe I’m missing something here. Is our blubonnet an agent provocateuse?

However, now that the Census Bureau has formally dropped their Acorn association, perhaps we can sleep somewhat more safely in our beds.

  5. Theo: Blu is most definitely blinded by the light.

Regarding your sleeping safely, I read commentary where ACORN had officially changed its name. That should give you pause. And ACORN is still getting huge tax dollars, despite all this. That should give you pause. And DOJ is still dragging its feet on releasing documents required by another fed agency regarding its dismissal of charges against the New Black Panthers. That should give you pause.

Just because one agency slapped ACORN, don’t mean nuttin.

  6. Come on, PIATOR. You have enough conservative blogs that have banished you that you have proven you have plenty of easy access to these facts. Or are you picking on the internet-connectivity-challenged just because you’re better than a handicapped person?

  7. Another post is pending re the quaint rationale for the thug-hugging prosecutor in Baltimore for going after the people who carried out the sting.

Maryland has a law specifically designed to protect crooked politicians and their friends.

  8. John, you stated “huge tax dollars”. Numbers and cite, please.

If it’s “so easy” to find the figures, and you are obviously working from reliable data, you should have no problems actually backing up your statement. When you make an assertion, you should be prepared to back it up.

  9. Well, no money now:

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in several voter-registration fraud cases. The 83-7 vote would deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., said that ACORN has received $53 million in taxpayer funds since 1994 and that the group was eligible for a wider set of funding in the pending legislation, which funds housing and transportation programs./blockquote>

  10. And the money shot, if you’ll pardon the pun:

Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., said that ACORN has received $53 million in taxpayer funds since 1994.

Wow – how impressive. This is an organisation that operates with 1200 chapters in 100 cities over the US – and it has received about $4 million a year.

Still waiting for that cite about “huge tax dollars”, John.

  11. try biggovernment.com if quality information is your goal

Note: seems there are some less-than-glowing righty-worship in some of the articles

Note to the note: but it’s obvious those unglowy things are by “dead from the neck up” state-run media and they serve to mock themselves.

  12. ACORN should be seen for what it is, a group that is run by white radicals who exploit their unsophisticated members.

The fact that so many of their members seem tolerant of criminal activity may be an indictment of the organization as a whole,

We had the voter registration frauds. Were these isolated efforts to make a few extra bucks or was is part of a scheme to pad the voter roles for future use?

What about that ‘ACORN activist’ in Baltimore who broke into a house lost to foreclosure? The news reports showed him to be supporting a ‘victim’. Yet my quick check of his ‘rap sheet’ showed him to be a heartless slumlord with more than housing code violations against him.

Perhaps in a subset of society where many see pimps as role models, the toleration of prostitution can be comprehended.

  13. Art Downs, it is about time you get called out for your silliness and outright lies, unless you can prove your allegations:

ACORN should be seen for what it is, a group that is run by white radicals who exploit their unsophisticated members. Citation please!

Now take note, folks, Art Downs will provide no citations!!!

  14. Phoenician: “Still waiting for that cite about “huge tax dollars”, John.

He doesn’t have one, Phoenician, therefore his bloviations are not to be believed, except by the faithful folks on here who require no evidence, only right wing made up stuff and propaganda.

  15. Perry:

Just look up Wayne and Dale Radke of ACORN and the SEIU. Their shared HQ for both is in NOLA. ACORN and SEIU are an incestuous group. One of the Radke’s was dismissed from one group for embezzling $1M and promptly headed the other side.

What many have taken note of Perry, is your hilarious hypocrisy.

As I have observed first hand here, you demand links and citations after they have already been provided. Then, when they are generously repeated for you, you fail to express your appreciation or to offer apologies for making false claims.

And, too, why should anyone else now provide you with cites, when they see that you do not, and did not demand them of that Phoenician-troll-buddy of yours?

You don’t have a moral leg to stand on Perry. Why should anyone accommodate you as if you were a man engaging in good-will dialog or argument?

  17. On what blog have you been commenting, DNW?

I understand that you personally are beyond citations, as we should all automatically accept all of your verbose pontifications as fact!

For example, where did you get your information on ACORN. Here is mine!

Art Downs is another one who does not believe in citations, only in bloviating.

Funny you should accuse Phoenicians, a person who uses citations all the time to back up his claims.

Dana Pico does a credible job with citations as well, as well as several other here.

Avoiding citations might be fine for you wingnuts, but not for me. If you do not respond with some, your case is weak. You certainly won’t get very far in the courtroom without documentation. Am I to assume, DNW, that you were/are a failed attorney? Just asking!

  19. Phoenician in a time of Romans:
Er, Yorkshire, your link doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the claim Perry for which asked a citation.

Let’s try this Pho, I grew up within a mile where this house was broken into. It’s near Patterson Park in SE Baltimore City. I was within 1 block of it yesterday. You, on the other hand live about 9 to 10,000 miles away from the house. So, when you want to talk relevence of what Art said about a house ACORN broke into illegally at 315 S. Ellwood Ave. Baltimore, MD 21224 versus I didn’t refeference what Art said and Perry asked about, well, you haven’t a clue.

  20. So, when you want to question Art and I about Baltimore, just to let you know we both grew up in the city. Art in the SW side, I was on the SE side. One of my neighbors was Senator Barbara Mikulski. I worked for her father and her sister works where I do. Nancy D’Alesandro grew up two miles to the west in Little Italy. Her father and brother were Mayors of the city.

The city and state for about the last 50 years has been a one party state. It spends more money than it takes in almost yearly. It’s a wonderful welfare state. It’s a thug friendly state with about 500 murders between Baltimore City (independent) and Prince Georges County. It has an unused death penalty. It’s drug trade in the city and PG county near DC is rampant. The likes of ACORN cry that there are more blacks than whites in jail, mostly because blacks commit more crimes. Essentially the state is a sanctuary state.

As I said, it’s a one party state that taxes businesses out of state. It is not business friendly. It has a high income tax rate that will go higher. Overall, the Baltimore and Maryland of the 50′s and 60′s is GONE. There is no sense of the importance of what MD was to the country. Now it’s just a high taxing welfare state. I wished I could live ther, but can’t afford it, nor is it the state I knew. Art feels the same way.

  21. Let’s recap, shall we?:

Art Downs: What about that ‘ACORN activist’ in Baltimore who broke into a house lost to foreclosure? The news reports showed him to be supporting a ‘victim’. Yet my quick check of his ‘rap sheet’ showed him to be a heartless slumlord with more than housing code violations against him.

    Perry: Citation please!

Yorkshire: Here’s a link to a story about ACORN repossessing a house on behalf of a woman with a dubious credit history.

PiatoR: Yorkshire, your link doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the claim of which Perry asked for a citation

Yorkshire: Horror! Disdain! I come from Baltimore! How dare you doubt me?!?

One teeny tiny minor little point remains, Yorkshire.

Your link doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the claim of which Perry asked for a citation

  22. Your link doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the claim of which Perry asked for a citation

Shorter for Pho in his voice: “I have a reading comprehension problem”

  23. Sharon wants wingnuts to avoid taking responsibility: “Ah, when you have no argument, just cry laziness. Do some damn Google searches, trolls.”

Sharon, isn’t it basic that when one makes an assertion, that it is up to them to back it up, especially when asked for one, or are you one of those damn Libs on here too? :)

  24. Yorkshire: ” Yet my quick check of his ‘rap sheet’ showed him to be a heartless slumlord with more than housing code violations against him.”

Yorkshire, Phoenician is correct, your reference does not say a word about the ACORN representative being a slumlord. Get your facts straight, man, otherwise credibility suffers!

  25. Citations re ACORN thuggery in Baltimore:

Donna Hanks bought the home in the summer of 2001 for $87,000. The interest rate was fixed and rather low. Some time during the ‘bubble’, she refinanced and had a loan balance of $270,000. She fell into arrears and was soon in Chapter 13 bankruptcy. For details, check case 06-13488.

She seems to have had a rather chaotic life and spent a lot of time in courtrooms. This can be verified via Maryland Judiciary Case Search. Her claim that her mortgage payment went up by ~$300 per month was the sum needed to catch up the arrears in accordance with the bankruptcy proceedings. There was no change in interest rate.

ACORN ‘Activist” Louis Beverly is another frequent flyer in the Maryland Courts. His offenses include assault, weapons charges, and the usual acts associated with a career slumlord. Again, his ‘rap sheet’ is available at the Maryland Judiciary Case Search site.

Both of these worthies seem to have developed the knack of beating the system in Court. Then again, Baltimore City has become rather ‘thug friendly’ in recent years.

The link to the Maryland court system is not difficult to establish and includes both criminal and civil cases.

  26. Donna Hanks [...] ACORN ‘Activist” Louis Beverly

Firstly – as pointed out – two different people. The fact that Yorkshire tries to pass off a story about one of them as an indictment on the other speaks volumes.

Secondly, about seven million Americans have felony convictions. This is about one in fifty. ACORN has over 400,000 members.

Thirdly, would you care to compare ACORN’s record with that of Halliburton or other notably pro-Republican corporations?

  27. From what I posted
After snapping a lock with bolt cutters, ACORN member Louis Beverly told supporters “this is our house now

    From what Art posted
ACORN ‘Activist” Louis Beverly is another frequent flyer in the Maryland Courts. His offenses include assault, weapons charges, and the usual acts associated with a career slumlord. Again, his ‘rap sheet’ is available at the Maryland Judiciary Case Search site.

I guess ACORN has two Louis Beverly’s and there are two 315 S. Ellwood houses.

  28. I tend to write on the basis of personal experience in the real world and on the basis of news items that I have remembered. I do not mouse around conspiracy sites looking for ‘justification’ for a set of pre-existing beliefs.

I am rather particular as to sources and can provide them when challenged. If others choose to provide them, thanks.

Note that I choose to post under a name that I use in Op-Ed pieces and letters to newspapers and that I use when testifying at public hearings. If anyone wants to check it out and find my address or listed phone number, they are welcome to do so.

Cyberspace is full of folks who think that anonymous rants are a high degree of activism. How many of these have stood at a polling place for most of the day, walked miles knocking on doors, or spoken before hostile audiences? What about lobbying elected officials on a pro bono basis? How many are active in local politics? How many would dare to put their name on the ballot?

    So much for the critics.

  29. In other words, Art, you don’t look at various sources to understand the issues from a multitude of angles, a more objective point. You don’t consider all aspects of something. You just think whatever the hell you want, reading only the sources that have been proven to lie by organizations that scrutinize media, calling bullshit when it is bullshit. Yeah, that gives you credibility….NOT!!! You can hold your head high in the air, but it freezes your brain even more, asshole!

  30. blubonnet:

    Shorter, Art was right afterall.

  31. The use of logic and the scientific method is obviously unfamiliar to some folks who engage in endless rounds of curve-fitting to find ‘proof’ for the answer that they had in mind from the start.

One could cite a vile forgery such as “The Protocols” to provide an argument for bigotry but how can a compendium of lies prove anything but the gullibility of those who choose to believe them? The “Goofers” have an agenda and there are some “credentialed” folks who have put in their opinions but does this make it true?

Yet I wonder about the life experiences of some of those who seem to get the angriest when their horrid beliefs are challenged.
