Dana noted in the comments at my blog that that oracle of truth, Amanda Marcotte, and her sappy sycophants at Pandagon hadn’t posted anything at all about the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.
I found this to be stunning, considering the way Pandagon “authors” have spent the last couple of years castigating Republicans for politicians like Larry Craig and Mark Foley. I mean, with a little reworking, we can justify using a Pandagon post to describe Democrats after Blagojevich, William Jefferson, Charlie Rangel, Eliot Spitzer, and Kwame Kilpatrick:
And what can only be described as a surreal downward spiral of hypocrisy, some of the filthy slime in [Pandagonland] have come to the conclusion that [Rod Blagojevich's] actions really aren’t that bad after all. Jeebus H. Christ. These are the folks who obsess about [John McCain's campaign finance reports] — but a [Democrat who sells a Senate seat to the highest bidder] is A-OK?
There. That’s a little better.
Like Dana, I was surprised that for two days, the Pandagon “authors” have found earth-shattering discussions about Jason Stratham, vampire movies and Joe the Plumber have deserved posts, while the arrest of the Illinois governor–who will, most likely, implicate other high-level politicians, including perhaps some in Obama’s circle–was to be ignored.
Well, I decided to ask Amanda why the Pandagonistas found Blago’s arrest such a yawner. Her response?
And I’ve got nothing besides, “He f*cked up. What a moron.”
Imagine that! Nothing more to say! Oh, I guess it’s no big deal! Certainly not like John McCain’s campaign finance report.
I’m happy to say that most of the liberal sites I’ve read have not had the Amanda Marcotte philosophy about this. Most have not been such hypocrites to castigate Republicans for malfeasance and then ignore Democrat wrong-doing. But I’m not really surprised at all at Amanda’s attitude.

In honor of Governor Blagojevich — I always have to copy and paste that name; I know I’ll never be able to spell it on my own! — I added the category of Political Corruption, and added it to this entry. I’m too lazy to go back and assign it to the Mark Foley and Dennis Hastert and Randy Cunningham and Eliot Spitzer and Larry Craig posts, though they all certainly deserve it.
Our friends at the Delaware Liberal have been all over the story, with multiple posts.
The more I read about Blago, the more I conclude he is just a creep. I read when the Governors get together, he wants nothing to do with the inferior other 49 of them.
He is shocking, really. It’s going to be interesting watching Fitzgerald peel back the layers on this thing like an onion.
You guys really think that Democrats have not been all calling for Blagojevich to resign?
Really?
That’s interesting.
Jason, did you miss Sharon’s original, in which she said:
Or my comment above, in which I noted your site specifically:
This was a post about Pandagon’s rather obvious failure to mention the issue, clearly the biggest political story of the week, something you know they’d be all over if Governor Blagojevic were a Republican.
There seem to be some reading comprehension problems with the Delaware Liberal crowd.
Shorter Sharon: I’m pissed because more people read Pandagon than my blog. Marcotte should write what I tell her.
He fucked up. He’s a moron. He’s going to jail. Nothing more to say.
Unless, of course, you have your nose up Karl Rove’s ass and are faithfully parrotting the talking points trying to smear Obama with, well, nothing. Take a big long whiff, Dana, and tell us what Karl had for dinner last night.
Wow, it must take some heavy duty drugs to read all that into what I wrote.
First, I don’t care that more people read Pandagon than my site. They have many writers who have no other life other than blogging. I’m just one gal doing it for grins in my spare time. Whenever I do write something that gets a bunch of attention, it’s tough to keep up with what people are saying.
Secondly, are all you moonbats getting your talking points from the same spot? Cuz I didn’t tell Amanda to write anything. I asked why she hadn’t posted on the biggest story of the week, a juicy scandal about a high-ranking Democrat. Of course, I knew why she hadn’t; she’s just a Democrat chihuahua who turns a blind eye to the sort of malfeasance she decries of Republicans. Sort of like you, Pho, except people read her blog (and mine too, for that matter).
Third, why is it when a Democrat commits a bunch of felonies, your response is just that “he f*cked up. He’s a moron. Move on.” But history tells us that leftwingers aren’t nearly so sanguine about bad behavior on the right. In fact, I quoted a Pandagon piece that said Republicans weren’t fit to govern because of Mark Foley. Are you gonna go write how Democrats aren’t fit to govern because of Blago, Cunningham, Spitzer, et al? Somehow I doubt it.
Seriously, though, Pho. Just use a big spoon while eating all the crap from the Left. Maybe you could try some spices on your crap sandwich. You’re gonna be eating a lot of em for the next couple of years.
Well, I care that more people read Pandagon than this site!
But that doesn’t mean I begrudge them their readers; I just wish we had more!
Democrats aren’t fit to govern because of Blago, Cunningham, Spitzer, et al?
Why wouldn’t Democrats be able to lead because of Randy “Duke” Cunningham?
Sorry, I meant William Jefferson. Dunno why I keep wanting to say Cunningham.
While I certainly understand the need to do a post on Jason Stratham, it rings utterly disingenuous that there is nothing on Blagojevich. Marcotte’s own pathetic excuse for not doing so reinforces what we already know about her gang of gasbags: if they don’t talk about it, it will go away; if they don’t talk about it and it goes away then they won’t be forced to put that big ‘D’ after his name and put another tally mark on their side of the aisle.
If she were ever honest about these matters, I might have a tiny bit of respect for her, but she isn’t and won’t be and therefore I have no respect for her…no matter how many Jason Stratham posts.
What I hadn’t notice previously was the fact that, in a week rife with Democrat scandals, Pandagon had studiously avoided discussing them.
As I’ve said, virtually every other liberal blog I’ve visited mentioned Blagogate. Large and small, they’ve all had posts (some of them, several) on the subject. That such a large site would deliberately avoid talking about this is comical. It makes me wonder if the whole site will shut down once Obama’s feet of clay become apparent.
