The Stern Gang

Howard Stern is seen as being ideologically kinky. His expressed political opinions demonstrate this.

He loathes the ‘cultural conservative’ who would like to see his on-line vulgarity muzzled and this should make him reliably in the Democrat camp.

Yet he vocally supported Republican Whitman in her effort to become Governor of New Jersey and Pataki against Cuomo in New York. The death penalty was an issue on the latter race and Cuomo is the epitome of ‘thug hugger’ . He also helped make G. Gordon Liddy an on-air personality. He has even shown signs of escaping the cultural bias against the right of a free people to keep and bear arms. He regularly flaunts the censorship of political correctness.

He toyed at being the Libertarian candidate against Cuomo but dropped out when he realized that his candidacy would assure the re-election of the loathsome Cuomo.

While not a regular fan, I once heard him make the comment: “It looks like a Kennedy crawled into my pay envelope.” This was obviously not applicable to any dead Kennedy but to the latter and radical members of the tribe.

He has millions of fans and not all are there for the snippets of satire that make it (sometimes) worthwhile to listen. Many vote in accordance with his expressed opinions. He may be able to affect at least one percent of the electorate and this could be critical in a close election, as seen in gubernatorial contests in New Jersey and New York where he supported the only Republicans who have won in recent elections.

Yet recently, his broadcast have featured the shouted interjection of the name ‘Obama’ (uttered in an angry and menacing voice) whenever the candidate is mentioned.

When Howard Stern went to satellite, his perceived audience draw made the deal very lucrative in terms of Sirius stock. The proposed merger of the two satellite companies would enhance his net worth. This merger required FCC approval. It passed, over the objection of the two Democrat opponents.

Now Stern vows never to vote for another Democrat and equates them with communists.

How will the far-flung and well-populated ‘whack pack’ vote?
