A truly serious issue!
My e-mail friend Cheryl, who advises our group on all fashion issues, sent me this vitally important story!

Cavegirls were first blondes to have fun
Roger Dobson and Abul Taher
The modern gentleman may prefer blondes. But new research has found that it was cavemen who were the first to be lured by flaxen locks.
According to the study, north European women evolved blonde hair and blue eyes at the end of the Ice Age to make them stand out from their rivals at a time of fierce competition for scarce males.
The study argues that blond hair originated in the region because of food shortages 10,000-11,000 years ago. Until then, humans had the dark brown hair and dark eyes that still dominate in the rest of the world. Almost the only sustenance in northern Europe came from roaming herds of mammoths, reindeer, bison and horses. Finding them required long, arduous hunting trips in which numerous males died, leading to a high ratio of surviving women to men.
Lighter hair colours, which started as rare mutations, became popular for breeding and numbers increased dramatically, according to the research, published under the aegis of the University of St Andrews.
This was just an amusing story, until I came to the final paragraph:
-
A study by the World Health Organisation found that natural blonds are likely to be extinct within 200 years because there are too few people carrying the blond gene. According to the WHO study, the last natural blond is likely to be born in Finland during 2202.
OK, now that is serious! It seems that we need to extend the protection of the Endangered Species Act (which now has room, the American Bald Eagle having been kicked off the Endangered Species List) to blondes! We must provide grants and special societal protections to all natural blondes; they should be required to reproduce.
Moreover, given that some darker-haired ladies might be interfering with the reproductive capabilities of blondes, by coloring their hair to appear to be blonde, it seems to me that anyone who colors her hair to become blonde ought to face criminal penalties, serious criminal penalties. Indeed, the attempts of some women to steal males who would otherwise go to natural blondes could even be considered a hate crime!
Surely this is far more important than the sale of P & O to DPW!

We were in northern Finland a few years ago. The blond strain is a live and well

Appearently, they did John. My mom (who is still with us) returned from the home of her living aunt in Greece, and brought with her fresh basil from their garden 5 generations old. The spunicopita she made was awsome. Customs held her for a while, making sure the basil was basil.
bye the bye…….my favorite “final” wrestling move was reaching down and tearing off the colored leg band as the ref was raising my arm.
