Sometimes it’s the little things that make me think we’ll win

I have reregistered as a Democrat, simply to have the privilege of voting against Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania’s April 22nd primary; naturally, I’ll switch back to the GOP immediately after the primary!

Whilst watching another one of the interminable Clinton commercials, in which she promised to heal the sick and raise the dead if she’s [shudder!] elected, my younger daughter asked me if I was going to have fun voting against Mrs Clinton on Tuesday. I replied that yes, I would!

Then my sister-in-law chimed in, saying that she was going to have fun voting against Barack Hussein Obama. I pointed out that while Mr Obama may be a liar, we know that Mrs Clinton is.

Then she said something that was music to my ears: she said that she didn’t think that Mr Obama would be loyal to our country.

Now, my sister-in-law isn’t very political, and she’s, quite frankly, the kind of voter you’d expect to support Mrs Clinton. But if Mr Obama wins the nomination, as I believe he will, my sister-in-law is more likely to vote for John McCain in November; there’s certainly no question about Mr McCain’s loyalty!

It’s clear that the GOP is down. Not only is it difficult for anyone to succeed a two-term president of the same party, let’s face it: President George Bush isn’t very popular, and the Democrats have been very successful with the “worst president ever” meme. (In twenty or thirty years, he’ll be regarded as one of our better presidents.) So Mr McCain has a big hill to climb.

But the polls are showing Mr McCain virtually even with either Mr Obama or Mrs Clinton, which ever way they match up. And now, my sister-in-law just told me why.

We’re going to win, people!

Dana, I told you long ago that I didn’t think the Dems would win the White House because they would overreach and present an unelectable candidate. Obama would be a powerhouse if he weren’t so far to the left and didn’t like to associate with radicals. Fortunately for the GOP, most people are going to question why this guy talks about wanting to get past race but had Jeremiah Wright as his mentor, why he associates with Tony Rezko, why he associates with 60s radicals, etc. Remember his own words, that we should judge someone by the company they keep. :)
