Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report at 12 noon on Thursday, February 16th, for the Baltimore Orioles.

The picture above was taken by Yorkshire, earlier today.

This is the female of the oriole. And the birds played rotten the second half. There’s always next year starting on the 16th.

  3. Dana says:

I grew up listening to Al Michaels and Joe Nuxhall doing the radio broadcasts for the Cincinnati Reds; back then, it was fun, as The Big Red Machine was being built. By the mid 1970s, I wasn’t able to listen as much, but I remember the lineup like it was yesterday: Pete Rose (3B), Joe Morgan (2B), Ken Griffey (RF), Johnny Bench (C), George Foster (CF), Tony Perez (1B), Cesar Geronimo (LF), and Davy Concepcion (SS).

    York,

Pretty bird, nice pic. You got any Cardinals, male or female?

Those two and a woodpecker, chickadee, tufted timouse, finches, cowbird, red tail hawk, doves, and a few others. You never know who will arrive at the back window feeder. And a Squirrel.

We have some really big Thompson’s Quail. Lots of them, four or five dozen. Every day in the back yard. It makes your heart sing.

And, as for those darn squarrels, 2 is about right for lunch.

They’re too high in Cholesteral. :-)

Get yourself a good Brunswick Stew recipe, one from Virginia, and use squirrel instead of chicken (or go with half and half if your squirrel supply runs low), other meats are a plus. Make sure you add lima beans and corn, and I skip green peppers. Serve with hearty fresh baked bread, or bake up some corn bread. Best on cold winter days. And, forget all that silly cholesteral nonsense.

  9. Dana says:

Cholesterol is one of the four main food groups!
