Texas Republicans voting for Barack Obama
I guess that I’m not the only one muddying the waters. The Grey Ghost noted that there are a lot of Republicans in Texas who are planning on voting in the March 4th Democratic primary, to vote against Her Inevitableness:
- GOP Voters Support Barack Obama
The Houston Chronicle reports on the increase in Republicans voting in the Democratic primary to ensure Billary doesn’t win Texas. Some examples:
There is scattered evidence across the state that some Republicans may be voting Democratic, at least for a day. In one precinct in the suburban Houston neighborhood of Kingwood, where 82 percent of voters cast ballots for President Bush in 2004, Democrats were outvoting Republicans 4-to-1 last week in early voting.
….Daron Shaw, a political science professor at University of Texas, said surveys he conducted in two state legislative districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area revealed that almost a quarter of voters with a history of voting in GOP primaries planned on participating in the Democratic primary.
Says one Texas pollster:
“The argument I’ve seen is, ‘Let’s get rid of Clinton once and for all,’ ” said Ralph Bordie, who conducts the IVR Poll in Texas.
Bordie’s latest statewide poll released last week found that 15 percent of Texas Republicans who said they will support the GOP nominee in November plan nonetheless on voting for Obama next week.
If it helps to get rid of Billary, you just know that I’m totally for it.

Art Downs:
I suspect that there has been a lot of this going on.
Given goofy laws that allow cross-voting, why not take advantage of voting twice against someone?
The smug inevitability of the Hillary gang seemed to underlie the conventional wisdom expressed by the so-called pundits.
Yet on the basis of wealth gained by in public office, the Clintons seem to as big a crook as LBJ. No other president seems to have failed the unexplainable wealth test.
Obama seems to be playing catchup and has already been the beneficiary of at least one sweetheart deal with a friend in a low place.

Conversely, a number of GOP-registered Texans called into the Brian & the Judge radio show yesterday saying they would be voting for Hillary, because they thought she would be the easier Democrat to defeat in the November elections. This article from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram discusses that ploy. http://www.star-telegram.com/elections/story/491433.html
I tend to agree with those Republicans who will be casting their primary votes for Hillary Clinton. I think she is far more vulnerable than Barack Obama.

Possibly, but I agree with the sentiments of the guy who said “Let’s get rid of Clinton once and for all”. That applies to both of them. Goodbye, and good riddance!

While I can understand someone whose logic is that Hillary Clinton would be the weaker Democratic nominee, the idea of ever voting for her would be too much to have on my conscience.

Dana, That is why they invented tequila. Vote for Hillary (thus a GOP victory), then erase the memory of your dastardly deed with a couple or three shots of Mexican Memory Eraser Juice.

You may be a Yankee now, Dana, but your southern upbringing shines through in your superb taste in music–and Jose Cuervo, too!
