A little Wednesday evening quick linkage
Amazing: the Democrats are cancelling a presidential candidate debate in Los Angeles due to the writers’ strike! Boy, does that say something!
Oh, well, we already knew that original thinking was not a Democratic strong point! Hat tip to the Hairy Beast!
And Oliver Willis (hardly a friend of Republicans) has the story about Rudolf Giuliani’s apparent use of New York City government funds to court his then-mistress and now wife Judith Nathan — while still married to his second wife, Donna Hanover.
I’m a good Republican, but I’ve said previously that I will not vote for Mr Giuliani, because of his support for abortion, because of his cavalier attitude toward the law when it comes to his friends, and because of his abominable personal judgement. And while the story is still developing, it looks like there’s another reason: the man is simply dishonest.

Wes:
I didn’t know you weren’t a fan of W. Did the Scooter Libby pardoning bother you?
29 November 2007, 12:21 amDana Pico:
President Bush didn’t pardon Mr Libby; he commuted any prison time Mr Libby would have received. Mr Libby still has a huge fine, a couple of years of probation, and remains a convicted felon.
29 November 2007, 6:17 amWes:
Commutation, then. He committed perjury at a time in which the President said he would punish anyone responsible for leaking the name. Not only did he leak that name, he lied about it under oath. The only reason it wasn’t a pardon was so he could rely on folks like you to keep pointing out it wasn’t a pardon. It had the same effect, we all know it, and I refuse to pretend a 250,000 fine would mean anything to a person in his position. Call me crazy, but I’m not worried about the man’s future. Is there anyone reading this who wouldn’t trade their current job prospects for the ones of Scooter Libby?
29 November 2007, 9:53 amArt Downs:
Mr. Libby’s ‘crime’ did not seem to carry the stench of moral turpitude associated with, say, mega-swindler Marc Rich. The rather dull-witted pseudo-activists who lard their diatribes with ‘Scooter’ and ‘Shrub’ seem to be ignorant of the definition of ‘covert operative’.
That said, Rudy’s personal life may have been too much in the style of LBJ, JFK, and WJC for some would-be guardians of the public virtue. However, he has not attempted a frameup of innocent persons (the Travel Office affair) to make a rich friend a bit more propserous, engaged in shady land deals, been the beneficiary of rigged cattle future deals as with a certain former First Lady. Politics remains the art of the possible and I have held my nose more than once on (General) election day.
Rudy has played his cameo role on 9/11 to the hilt. He deserved some praise for not running to a far-off safe haven during a time when conditions at the scene were a bit hazardous.
He did tell the Saudis to stuff it when it came to a gift with strings, but given the demographics of NYC, what else could he have done?
He did change the domestic approach to law enforcement in the City after the Dinkins disaster. His choice for top cop was a bit ‘mobbed up’ but what can you expect in that city? ‘New York’s Finest’ has long been an inside sick joke. The late Inspector Valentine was a rare exception to the rule and he ended up offering his services in postwar Japan after the election of the crooked O’Dwyer.
Rudy is not my first choice for the GOP nomination but I would support him in the General Election. My recent words of defense for Romney in a ‘Willie Horton’ hit came not out of partisanship but in the sense of fairness.
There is a place for truth in the political process.

Speaking of Wednesday Evening Linkage, it appears CNN has done it again. What else can one expect from the Chicken Noodle Network. It is very apparent now a good number of the You Tube Questioners were Democratic Operatives that CNN had no clue they were set up. Right, they had 5,000 questions to sort through and the ones that got picked at random included strident supporters of Obama, Edwards and Hillary. But as I see it, OK, do that as much as you want CNN, the bottom line is that the Dems are in mortal fear of showing up on FOX in total fear of getting an unscripted question.

Yes, it does. Specifically, it says that Democrats respect the right of workers to organize.

It says Hillary would not have her script written for her canned answers.
