Common Sense Political Thought

Multiculturalism and Diversity are noble-sounding euphemisms for movements that are insidiously undermining common sense and our culture.
 
Multi-culturalism is an attempt to equated the achievements of aboriginal societies with the fruits of western civilization.  The latter phrase once included the formal study of our cultural evolution from Ancient Greece Rome, and the influence of Judeo-Christianity.  It has been deemed offensive by the trendy types who would corrupt the minds of the young from kindergarten through graduate schools. 
 
Diversity is a scheme for demanding acceptance and celebration of what some tolerate as well as a system of quotas that requires promotion and hiring of the unqualified and inept at the expense of proven performers.  Industries that rely on government contracts strive to follow quotas that are disguised as goals to avoid bureaucratic frowns.
 
In education, diversity is a demand for equality of outcome, whether it is in the awarding (not earning) of grades and the statistical application of discipline.
 
Seeming statistical inequality in punishment of crimes is another area where the apostles of diversity are concerned. The disproportionate number of blacks and Latinos in our prisons and on our death rows is taken as an indicator of discrimination rather than a societal failure in certain of our subcultures.  Self-appointed leaders and spokesmen of these subcultures rail against the outcome but fail to deal with the cause.
 
The influx of illegal immigrants who seem eager to import their own culture rather than adopt to ours will only make matters worse.  Yet the political approach is one of pandering rather than prevention.  To some extend, radical jurists have restrained the political process.  We should cut off so-called ‘entitlements’ that make illegal entry attractive.  We might also strengthen (and enforce) laws that make voting in national elections by non-citizens a felony that would demand immediate deportation and a permanent debarment from re-entry.
