Hidden inside Ashley Hayes-Beaty’s computer, a tiny file helps gather personal details about her, all to be put up for sale for a tenth of a penny.

The file consists of a single code— 4c812db292272995e5416a323e79bd37—that secretly identifies her as a 26-year-old female in Nashville, Tenn.

The code knows that her favorite movies include “The Princess Bride,” “50 First Dates” and “10 Things I Hate About You.” It knows she enjoys the “Sex and the City” series. It knows she browses entertainment news and likes to take quizzes.

  1. And? That’s merely the capitalism you think is so great at work, Yorkshire.

  2. The Free Market is great. It fosters innovations, hires people, comes up with better ideas, makes great medical contributions. The planned economy of Socialism/Progressivism just stiffles the mind. If that’s what you want, you can have it, apparently BO plans it for us.

  3. You’re like a parrot at times – give you a stimulus, and you spout canned phrases you don’t understand.

You just did a story about a corporation collecting personal information to sell in the marketplace to other corporations.

And when it is pointed out to you that this is just capitalism at work, you hop up on your perch and chirp

“Capitalism Good! Obama is a Socialist And Bad! Yorkshire want a Cracker *whistle* Yorkshire wants a Cracker!”

Once again, you just did a story about a corporation collecting personal information to sell in the marketplace to other corporations. That’s capitalism at work, Yorkshire.

Excellent series on a related topic: The credit scoring system. (If people did this with our medical information, we’d lock them up and throw away the key.)

Try the HITECH ACT passed with the Stimulus Bill. http://www.hipaasurvivalguide.com/hitech-act-text.php Hmm, written, allegedly read by Congress, went through Committees (yeah, right, discussed) passed and signed within 25 days of BO taking office. Wonder how that happened????? Wonder what group with an interest in knowing your medical history had this pre-written before BO took office? Wonder how this is tied (it is) with the Healthcare Bill??? (It is) :-(
